Hi everyone
A weekly newsletter will always miss some events. There was a vigil in Coffs Harbour yesterday evening. You will need to follow our Facebook to become aware of these events
Susan Doyle writes
"My Grandson Tom in Hyde Park tonight, lighting up for the Syrian refugees. Wanted to know why those boys couldn't come to his place... If only we were all more childlike!"

Bring Syrian Refugees to Australia - could Border Force cope?
Border Force has an appalling record of achieving anything, so how would they cope with an influx of thousands of Syrian Asylum Seekers.
No asylum seekers languishing on Manus Island have been resettled despite being in detention for more than 2 years
Only 4 refugees have been resettled in Cambodia despite the National Party Government paying Cambodia $55 million for this ill conceived plan
The legislation for Temporary Protection Visas for existing asylum seekers in Australia, who would move to regional areas was passed by Parliament in December 2014. After nine months nothing seems to have happened?

Coffs Harbour Market 6 September 2015
We had another successful market stall at Coffs Harbour Foreshores on Sunday 6th September. As always, there was lots of interest in our stall, with more than 70 people signing our petition and a number of people joining our Supporters’ list. The anger and shame that many expressed with the attitude of both the government and Opposition compared to some of the countries of Europe in the face of the unprecedented refugee crisis was quite remarkable. So many visitors to the stall found it incomprehensible that our Prime Minister, confronted by the deaths of hundreds of people fleeing their war-torn countries , could be so insensitive to suggest that what Europe needs to do is “stop the boats”.
Once again, visitors were very generous in putting money in our collection tin for Chilout, donating $70 to help fund the Charity’s work on behalf of children in detention.
All in all, a very uplifting and positive experience. A big thank you to Judy, Sue, Robin and Michele who joined John and Mike to help spread the word.
Picket outside Luke Hartsuyker's Office
