Letter to the Prime Minister: Illegal arbitrary detention of asylum seekers and refugees

Dear Prime Minister,

How much longer do you intend wrecking the lives of decent people,

men women and children who lawfully came to our country fleeing persecution? 

How low do you intend dragging our country's reputation?  We the   lovers of this land as it once was, before your cruel and uncaring disregard for the lives of anyone outside your own community became the rule of law. We want our beautiful country and  its kind citizens back again!!!I

If you ever expect to be respected again, you must allow every off and onshore asylum seeker and refugee their immediate freedom.  Some are close to death, how long can they survive without hope of a life of their own? With  no chance to work, have families, educate and eventually become great citizens of Australia.

Dear Prime Minister,

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the government’s continued use of temporary protection visas for people arriving in Australia who are subsequently found to be genuine refugees and who therefore are entitled to protection. Under international law, temporary protection visas should only be used in exceptional circumstances. They should not be used as a policy response to target people who simply arrive on our shores without a valid visa. These temporary visas, whether TPVs or SHEVs, leave refugees in a permanent state of uncertainty and anxiety, when what they so urgently need is a sense of security to enable them to rebuild their lives. The restrictions imposed by these temporary visas, not least the ban on family reunion, present enormous and unnecessary barriers to successful resettlement. The mental health impacts of this policy are well documented.

We call on the government to end this cruel practice and to provide permanent protection visas for all refugees who currently hold TPVs or SHEVs.

Dear Sir

I find it appalling that you and your government continue the harsh and inhumane  treatment of these refugees. You state that you follow the Christian faith and if you truly did you would fight for the release of these people and bring into our care in Australia. Your governments policies are becoming like a third world dictatorship or a country with Nazi like sympathies with the way you are treating the refugees on Nauru and Manus.
It is time you and your government reviewed all the evidence on the treatment of these people and stopped being cruel and inhumane
I don't know if you ever get to really read emails sent to you but hopefully more and more Australian citizens are communicating with you about this disgraceful situation

Dear Prime Minister Turnbull,
Yesterday, you stated, in your message to the nation: "please remember those who need our love and support now more than any other time". Well, I'm thinking about the detainees on Manus and Nauru, many of whom have been languishing in these hell-holes for more than four years. They have committed no crime. They have fled terror and persecution in their homelands to seek a place of safety in Australia, but it seems that there is no room in the inn. This utterly cruel and inhumane policy has done so much harm to these innocent people. Some have died, many have been ill-treated, and most of them have serious mental health issues resulting from their indefinite detention. If you are serious about the message of Christmas, then you should be telling the Australian people that enough is enough, and that these offshore detention centres will be permanently closed in 2018. End the torture. Bring them here!</sub>
